Authorities in Massachusetts have identified the victim of a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in Hanson earlier this week, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz and Hanson Police Chief Michael D. Casey.
Officials confirmed the driver as 58-year-old Brian Crowley of Hanson. The fatal incident occurred at approximately 6:22 p.m. on Monday, when emergency services were called to a residence on High Street after a pickup truck left the roadway and crashed into a home.
According to investigators, the homeowner at 481 High Street contacted Hanson Police and Fire after a Chevrolet pickup truck struck the front of the property and ultimately came to rest after rolling onto its driver’s side inside the structure. The impact caused significant damage, including a breach through a bay window at the front of the residence.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and found the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, unconscious and trapped within the wreckage. Firefighters and police officers immediately initiated extrication efforts, using specialized hydraulic rescue equipment to remove him safely from the heavily damaged vehicle.
After a prolonged rescue operation, the driver was transported to Brockton Hospital for emergency medical care. Despite the efforts of first responders and hospital staff, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities have not yet determined what caused the pickup truck to leave the roadway. Investigators are continuing to examine all possible factors, including roadway conditions, vehicle performance, and any potential medical or environmental issues that may have contributed to the crash. At this stage, officials have not indicated that any other vehicles were involved.
The investigation remains active and is being jointly conducted by the Hanson Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
Residents of the home were not reported injured, though the crash caused significant structural damage and prompted a prolonged emergency response at the scene. Officials continue to assess both the circumstances of the crash and the extent of property damage.
As the investigation proceeds, authorities have stated that no further details are available at this time. Additional updates are expected once investigators complete their initial review and determine the factors that led to the fatal collision.
