The Thomasville, North Carolina community is grieving the loss of Myles Rainey, a former Roanoke College football player whose passing has left a deep sense of shock and sorrow among family, friends, teammates, coaches, and classmates. At this time, no official cause of death has been publicly released.

Myles Rainey is being remembered as a committed student-athlete whose influence reached far beyond football. During his time with the Roanoke College football program, he was known for his discipline, consistency, and strong work ethic. In the 2025 season, he appeared in all nine games, recording 16 tackles and one sack. Coaches and teammates often described him as dependable, prepared, and fully committed to the success of the team.

Before college, Rainey had already built a strong athletic reputation in high school within the Mid-Piedmont Conference, where he earned Lineman of the Year honors and was selected to the All-Conference team. In addition to football, he also competed in wrestling and tennis, demonstrating versatility and determination across multiple sports.

One of the most memorable moments of his athletic career came in wrestling, when he staged a remarkable comeback from an 8–1 deficit in the final seconds to win a conference championship—an achievement frequently recalled by coaches as a reflection of his resilience and competitive spirit.

Academically, Myles was pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics at Roanoke College, with aspirations of building a future in business beyond athletics. Those close to him describe him as ambitious and focused on long-term goals.

He is survived by his parents, Layne and Darrin Rainey, and his brother Aydin, who also played football at Roanoke College. His passing has created a profound void in his family and wider community, where he is remembered as hardworking, respectful, and supportive of those around him.

Beyond athletics and academics, friends recall his personality and interests, including shows like Rick and Morty, South Park, The Regular Show, and the film Step Brothers, as well as his support for the Carolina Panthers and admiration for LeBron James.

As tributes continue to be shared, Myles Rainey is being honored not only for his achievements on the field, but also for his character, determination, and the lasting impact he had on everyone who knew him.
